"Where Ghost works and plays"

What Do I Do?

Absolutely nothing.  ;)   Seriously I work for a company called Teleperformance.  I’m hooked to a phone taking calls from Sprint customers who need help with their phones, service, billing, troubleshooting, upgrading, adding new lines, etc.  It can be a pretty hectic job on some days when the calls come in back to back, but the one thing that makes it all worthwhile (besides the paycheck) is the people.  Not just the people I work with either.  Those people are great and I’ve made some good friends, but the people who call in.  We have bad calls but for the most part these people are just wanting one thing … they want their phones working and they don’t want to pay a fortune for it.  This is the age of the cell phone and well, someone has to be there when the darned things don’t work.

Other than that I’ve got a number of hobbies.  Before I worked at TP I was a stay-at-home Mom for the youngest kid to join our family.  So I did have time on my hands and I got involved in fandom.  Yep I became a fan.  As a fan it was my job to keep other fans entertained.  I got into writing fan fiction for Stargate SG-1, then I got into creating Incredimail Stats and Tags for people.  I got into creating web pages and had several of my own domains.  It was fun and I enjoyed myself immensely.  Well when we moved from Tennessee back to Idaho and I got a job all that came to an end.  But this blog, and a new show, has brought it all back.

So what you’re going to find here is a mish-mash of all of that as a way to de-stress and get back into doing something with my evenings and weekends besides just vegging in front of the TV.  Fact is the TV isn’t even hooked up any more.  I do everything on the computer which is how I really like to spend my time.

The World of Fandom

I’m an equal opportunity fan.  I do get caught up in just one and work on that to the detriment of all the others, but I do come back to the others eventually.

My first entry into the world of internet fandom was with Stargate Sg-1 which included one of my all time favorite actors Richard Dean Anderson.  The man still makes me weak in the knees.  ;)   It all started with fanfic.  I found some on the web and decided to try my hand at it.  I got together a group of people in a Yahoo Group and we discussed how to write it, what to write about, and also just a bunch of silly stuff.  We’d do challenges and then have the stories we’d written beta-tested by other fan fiction writers until they were as polished as they were going to get.  I loved it.  I made one of my best friends from that list.  We’ve met twice but have remained long-distance friends for over ten years now.

While doing the fanfic, I also started doing Music Vids.  You know you take a song and then cut a bunch of clips from your favorite show and put it all together and you’ve got something else to show off.  ;)   Fun with music.  What more could one ask.

Next came the screen caps and from there it mutated into doing Incredimail Stats and Tags.  That was (and is) a blast.  Creating an image to use in emails was as entertaining and creative as doing counted cross stitch.  I mean you get to see an image come together into something comical, serious, dramatic, whatever.

Now throughout all of that there were the web sites.  I had to have somewhere to share all this stuff so I learned HTML and PHP so I could create and edit my own web sites.  One of my first loves in college was learning how to use the computers and how to program them and coding web sites adds onto that enjoyment.  Again, it’s like a counted cross stitch.  Watching a web page turn into something unique.

Maybe one day I’ll have enough time on my hands to upload all of these different things.  Of course finding them will be a major job since I’ve gone through three different computers over this time.  Sometimes I was actually smart enough to save them to a disk.  Sometimes not so smart.  ;)
